I knew I'd started this thread some time ago, just hadn't realised quite how long ago it was!
Anyway, after much thinking and pondering I took the decision a couple of months ago to go travelling again this year. They reason for my hesitation was that for a start Joy's eyesight has deteriorated so much that I think she can see very little now, if anything at all, and also that neither of the people who she's used to staying with are able to have her this year, due to changes in their own family circumstances. However, through one of these couples I have come to know Cat, a dog behaviourist, who doesn't do dog sitting herself but was happy to recommend someone who does, and who specialises in dogs who need a bit of extra support (sort of a Special Needs dog sitter!) Her name is Nadia, she has come on walks with Joy and myself and was very happy to stay in our house and look after her. She's absolutely lovely and Joy liked her straight away, putting her paws up on her lap and covering her with kisses.
So here I am now in one of those characterless hotels at Manchester Airport, waiting for the 9.25 flight to Malaga tomorrow, for a 10 day tour of Andalusia, which covers several places I've wanted to see for some years, in particular the Alhambra Palace. Of course I'm missing Joy already, but Nadia has promised me daily photos and updates, and I have no doubt at all that Joy's in very good hands. So I'll be posting a few photos, I expect, and am already counting down until I'm back with my girl!
