Reuben has always had a sharp recall , even on a beach with other dogs and people , I whistle and he comes but not this morning 
. Mind you , the woman in charge of her three dogs didnt exactly help matters when one of hers snaffled Reubens ball and she then threw it into the river for her dog to fetch 
. Of course , Reubs thought she must be playing with him , to be chucking his beloved chuck it ball into the river and so he blanked me 100% . Eventually I asked the woman to please stop and pass the ball back to me , which she reluctantly did , and I put it firmly in my bag , making sure that Reubs saw where it was , and then he followed me
