Oh my poor Cassie

She seems her normal morning self -- has greeted me when I went down to make a cup of tea, then hopped up onto sofa to await breakfast :)

Thank you for asking, I expect she will not want to go past that spot later but remains to be seen.

It's not being able to explain to her what caused it that's hard/sad. I hate it when animals feel pyschological distress.

I'm just catching up so I'm hugely relieved to see that Cassie's back to her usual happy self this morning. I'd say the clue to what she thought is in how she responded @Selina27 - she ran straight TO you. If she'd thought you had caused the shock, she would have backed away.

It happened to our spaniel Max years ago and he did the same, ran straight to me. The farmer, there at the time, was amazed and said when it happens to his collie, he runs away and stays away for several hours. :scared:

Dogs don't think as we do, they are in the now, she doesn't need you to explain, she knows that that particular place was painful and she will now avoid it. Please stop stressing yourself, next time you walk past there, act jolly, play a little game with her, she will be fine, probably wary, but she won't be having psychological thoughts. Please don't think I am not taking your concerns and feelings seriously, I just hate to think of you worrying.

 Thank you Sonia, I know that you are absolutely right, and would say the same to others. But you know what it's like when it's your own!

We are just back from a lovely walk -- here is the offending stretch , the electric fence runs along the bottom to stop the sheep getting under. I was armed with bits of steak left from last night, to help he get passed it.

Waiting for me having got past the area, none too happy bless her, but she will get over it no doubt.
