One of those moments x

When Sam as a youngster , I used to take him to a field in our village which the farmer allowed us to use and there he met and played with many others . One in particular was his very best friend , a chocolate Lab called Yorkie who was then around three years old , he was Sams hero, they would meet and great like they hadnt seen one another in months . If we were out in the car and spotted Yorkie out with Mum Sue , Sam was make little crying noises , he simply loved this dog , the friendship enduring until Sam died .
This morning , very early , I decided to take Reuben out around the village and end up in the field whilst Paul and Nelly snoozed away . In the distance I saw Sue with Yorkie who is now an elderly gentleman, plodding along sedately until he saw Reuben and then he ran , in fact he galloped , tail up, ears up in anticipation . If ever a dog could look disappointed , it was right then , as he reached Reuben, but suddenly , he began to play bow and off they set , looning around like Labs do .
Sue told me that Yorkie has a cancerous growth and is having an operation to attempt to remove it from his mouth in three days time but honestly , for both of us to see our dogs playing together was just so lovely , she said she hadnt seen Yorkie like this for a long time , he is usually the elder statesman !
It was very poignant indeed , memories of Sam playing with Yorkie came flooding back , tears came and then I noticed that Sue was also crying so we had a hug . Dogs eh ? xxxx
