Oreo has a bad limp

Joy has started limping too! It was on our walk thismorning. One minute she was happily trotting along and the next she was standing still and holding her left front paw up. Then she came limping towards me and lay on her back with all four paws in the air. I couldn't see anything wrong with it, so we made our way slowly home and will have a restful day. This has happened before and she was fine the next day, so I'll just see how she goes. Hope the vet can sort Oreo's sore paw out.:thelambiesarecoming:

Did he check for a thorn? Seems odd that she suddenly started to limp and it’s not really improving. I’d take a torch and a magnifying glass and check her paw thoroughly. Hope she feels better soon.

Yeah I had given a good check for one the day it happened and the vet did too. No sign of anything in her paw. It is slightly improving so I think it’ll just take a few days of metacam and rest. So fingers crossed 🤞🏼 if she doesn’t improve then she’ll have to get an X-ray to check, but I don’t think it’ll get to that stage :)

Joy didn't want her walk thismorning. She seemed keen enough when we set off and I had chosen a walk that could easily be cut short if necessary. We had only been walking for about five minutes when she stopped and laid down on her back again. I checked her over but couldn't find anything obviously wrong. I said 'Do you want to go back?' and she jumped up and started heading eagerly for home. So here we are now. She doesn't appear to be poorly or in pain at all, she's barking at cats as usual, she is very much wanting cuddles and fuss, there's no limping, everything seems normal apart from not wanting her walk. Again, she has done this once before and been back to normal the next day, so we'll just have another quiet day with lots of snuggles and see how she is tomorrow. According to the pedometer app on my mobile we walk on average seven miles a day, so perhaps we deserve a little rest!

According to Maisy's Pitpat we do about 4 or 5 miles in the morning, sometimes playing with other dogs, sometimes just mooching and walking. When we go for our evening walk I often feel it's a complete waste of time, she'll not want to go anywhere or she'll just lurk behind me as if she's sulking. As soon as I say 'let's go home' she bolts ahead at a trot and can't get home quick enough. We assume (or I do) that our dogs want to run about all the time but maybe they need their easy days too. I don't think we should worry so much.

I agree. I used to worry if she didn't seem keen on her walk, but she's clearly not unwell today and infact we've had a really nice day! She's having a Kong just now and is a happy girl.
