I think a lot of the extra time is trying to get to grips with their systems, plus catching up on work that wasn’t done during the gap between clerks.
Although attending a long meeting on the first day was a bit difficult it did give me a chance to meet all the councillors. I knew a lot of them from the village, and most people knew me as the owner of a mad chocolate labrador

Glad your first week was good. I work with a lot of town and parish clerks and know how challenging the role can be as well as dealing with councillors! (Most are nice).
That’s probably what got you the job! If you can cope with a mad chocolate labrador the parish council pales into insignificance!

Just about to contact ours for an answer to a question to take to the next meeting - which we couldn’t get from our local authority conservation officer! I hope they can be more helpful than he was. You move in exciting circles @SteffiS
