I loved watching the video - Carbon looks so happy. I'm guilty of not being systematic enough in raising criteria - I either stay on one level too long or try to add a cue too soon.

Watching that little gentleman dog's tail just wagwagwagwagwag is so incredibly heartwarming. Every time you approach him the tail speeds up. He's so happy, I love it.

Our second shot at paw targeting. He now loves it so much that he paw targets EVERYTHING. Today we started a new behaviour of going around a stool. I set the stool in the middle of the living room, he walked right up to it, and stuck his paw smack dab on the top of the stool. Unfortunately that made me laugh like a loon - which seems to be a big reinforcer for Carbon - so he did a second time.

We did eventually get to "Go Around" but I have to admit the "Slap the Stool with my Paw' game was more fun.

@snowbunny you'll be relieved (?) to see I took your advice to heart: I'm careful to NOT MOVE except to increase distance. No more dancing chicken!

I recommend a 'recycled' ready meal tray...Carbon loves the 'crunch' sound it makes when he steps on it. He doesn't show quite the same enthusiasm when I've tried to switch him to something a bit more dignified as a target!
