Physio

After my accident, I have been having quite a bit of trouble with my back/neck/shoulders. This has been very annoying for me because I’m desperate to just get back to normal, but I’m unable to due to the pain.

I have just been to the physio for an assessment and to come up with a plan moving forward. It is a private physio, which the other guys insurance is paying for (thankfully!).

I have been examined, and have been told that my tendons and muscles have been “overstretched” as a result of the whiplash. I’ve been advised that heat and massage will help it, and have exercises to do as well. I have my first main session in 2 weeks for massaging (I bet it’ll be sore!!), and will likely have around 12 sessions.
Like most things, it’s just an inconvenience🤨 stupid people on the roads🙄

It just makes me SO mad 😡 that’s the worst part about it all... the fact he f*cked up majorly and didn’t even come to check I was okay.
Honestly, just thinking about it makes me SO angry and pissed off.
Ugh I know how you feel. 13 years ago we were in a jam in the M5 south near bristol, that horrible bit near the RAC control building where loads of junctions merge, and a car ran into the back of us while we were stationary. Then, to our horror he drove off without stopping. My car was not quite a write off, but took six weeks to repair. I had whiplash and lost a couple of weeks off work, had a few physio sessions and acupuncture but not as bad as you were.

Because he left no details, we had to do it through my insurance first, though my legal cover made things easier. I was furious that he never stopped when the whole thing was his fault, I got passed on some of his details and I became a bit obsessive about tracking him down on the internet.

However, these things do work out in the end and Karma caught up with him. He was caught on camera and prosecuted, he lost his licence for a year for not stopping at the scene, and had to do some community service. He lived up in scotland, so was either somewhere he shouldn't have been, or maybe had been drinking. He was insured, so eventually all our costs were recovered.

I know exactly how you feel Sophie. The car that drove into me completely changed my life. Some things are crap, but there are a lot of positives. I used to love riding my motorbike and being out with friends, but all that changed. The biggest positive is that I may not have ever gotten Harley if things hadn’t changed.
I really hope that physio helps x

.....but it will be a ‘healing’ kind of sore if that makes sense. Each session will improve things for you and the exercises you will do will be you helping yourself get fit and well. Don’t dwell on the how it happened; concentrate on the positives of getting better. Believe me, I am currently in that zone of getting myself better after experiencing excruciating pain in my back and being incapacitated. We all get our injuries through some means - for me it was lifting at work before the days of health and safety but I can‘t change the past so I focus on becoming fit and active again

I had my first proper physio this afternoon and by god it was AMAZING 😍
He gave me a back massage and then cracked my back along my spine and my neck. I felt so good afterwards, like so much weight had been lifted off my shoulders (literally).
I am now feeling really optimistic about it and hope I’ll be back to normal in no time! Very pleasantly surprised:mmm:

I've had lots of physio over the years and the best thing I've every had done was a deep muscle massage of my feet. I nearly passed out drooling. She really helped the muscles and Joints it was amazing. Glad you feel better ♥

I am also guessing/hoping you manged to sleep better last night as well?
Well I actually haven’t been sleeping awfully great recently anyway but it was definitely better than the night before. It’s been a very broken sleep so doesn’t feel I’ve slept as much as I have.
I went to bed with a heat pad on my neck as I was starting to feel the effects of the physio - totally normal.
I have another heat pad this morning as I do feel a bit of pain but I’m just hoping it means it’s working!

I am still in a lot of pain after my car accident (which was almost 6 and a half months ago now!!). A lot of pain in my lower back, along with my right shoulder blade area, sometimes going up my neck too… I am getting absolutely nowhere with my solicitor regarding additional physio and I got discharged at the beginning of July, even after stating to them I wasn’t happy with the progress and the fact I was being discharged!!
I am so mad at the whole situation and it feels like we aren’t moving anywhere!!

I just wish it was all over and I was back to normal :(

Don’t give up on pushing the solicitor for the extra physio, Sophie. It’s exasperating that you have to be the proactive one, though.

A friend who has had limited arm movement after an operation has bought a hot tub now that she’s retired. She‘s regained a lot of movement and can now raise her arm right up again after doing exercises in the tub. Worth a try?! (It sounds a real faff testing the water daily, though!)

I bet you’re mad - it seems so wrong that you’re still in so much pain, I am sorry for you. Was your previous physio with the NHS? If you were discharged even though you weren’t happy it seems there should be some form of redress via Healthwatch or a PALS advocacy service?
You poor thing; it’s exhausting enough having the physical issues, without having to battle to continue treatment.

My father caught legionaries disease and died from a contaminated hot tub please test if you have one

That’s terrible - I’m so sorry, Sarah. I’ve always been wary of swimming pools and hot tubs aren’t on my priority list either.
It was a very strange time he had terminal liver cancer and was doing well he was not expected to live for much longer. He went to a shop walked by a shop selling and demonstrating hot tubs once and caught it so did about 40 other people. It was a large out break 3 people died and some after 9 years are suffering symptoms. There was a court case the firm was fined heavily. He was just unlucky.
