Physio

Was your previous physio with the NHS?
No, it was private through the other side insurers… I didn’t want to have such a long wait for physio as I felt it would’ve been more beneficial to get going with it ASAP. It’s the same company who have been dealing with my psychology sessions too. I have been waiting at least 6-8 weeks to hear from them regarding EMDR therapy, and I have finally got it sorted yesterday and have my first session this morning via zoom!
It just seems like nobody really cares about how quickly things progress for me, and when I’m in a lot of physical pain and still struggling psychologically, it’s just SO frustrating.

We care a lot. I would get referred to a NHS physio they are good and over the years have helped deal with some very serious problems. They have quickly and efficiently dealt with my knee problems recently. I honestly think some of these private companies are pi** takers. You've been unhappy from day one. I would try a different way. I waited just over 2 weeks for my NHS appt and can't praise my physio enough. I'm hoping to get discharged at my next visit. I never thought that I would get pain free and mobile again, but I have with his help. I know it's hard not to feel down because of the pain but you are a determined woman and you will get there mostly due to you're hard work.♥♥♥♥

It just makes me SO mad 😡 that’s the worst part about it all... the fact he f*cked up majorly and didn’t even come to check I was okay.
Honestly, just thinking about it makes me SO angry and pissed off.
I know it isn't quite the same @Sophiedoodle, but way back beginning of April a chap drove on to my drive and crashed into my garage which has had to be demolished, it is still to rebuilt, everything had to be carried out of the garage and found homes for, hard physical work. The insurance company quibbles about everything. The chap who did it, once wrote a brief email and said 'sorry' and since then nothing, when I did mention it he said 'oh I had forgotten about that'. Unfortunately he had a fall recently and broke his hip and pelvis, so I can't say anything. Like you I feel pissed off!!! I am living in chaos!

As awful as it is, this is the game.

The insurers solicitors job is to drag it out and make it as difficult as possible. They put as much pressure etc on as possible so people get fed up, want it over with then they make an offer, people accept because they’re over the entire thing, saving themselves a fortune.

Keep strong, it will be worth it in the end. And keep on at your solicitor about more physio. Make sure you clearly document you’re still in pain.

Thanks Jen, that’s really helpful to know!
I will send my solicitor another email now and knuckle down on her a bit more to get things moving.

I had a very similar issue with solicitors with my accident. As they were taking so long I sent them an email saying I needed more physio so would pay privately, but expected to be reimbursed by them. I also insisted that I have another consultation with a doctor to talk about my concerns and ongoing problems. Please do keep pushing them, and if you can afford it, pay for physio, keep every receipt then put in a claim. It took nearly a year after my accident for them to reassess me. They then decided to send me to see a neurosurgeon who picked up that I had fractures in my spine. He spent the next 18 months pushing for them to do the surgery he suggested. Twice they denied his request and opted for injections to help the pain, but they didn’t work. My neurosurgeon ended up sending them a very harsh email about them messing about for so long and the long term damage they had caused. They did end up paying for the surgery, but they couldn’t rectify the damage that had been inflicted by the delays. All the way through this process (over 4.5 years) I paid for physio fortnightly and did manage to get all of my costs refunded along with a reasonable payout. Do not give up. They try to push you to settle, but please don’t until you are physically and mentally as well as you can be.
It is hard and tiring, but don’t give up. Sending you hugs.

Thank you @Naya
I had a phone call with my solicitor yesterday and she said that they couldn’t guarantee that I would be reimbursed for physio because on my discharge report, it says that I should be “back to normal” in 3 months. That takes us to mid-October, so she said I should hang tight and then come mid October, if I’m still in pain, then she will request an appointment with an orthopaedic surgeon to have me reassessed. I do understand that, but I also might go through the NHS for physio as I obviously don’t have to pay for that.
It’s just a big waiting game 🧐
My work rota will be changing in a couple of weeks, so I will be doing less cleaning - that should help a little as the cleaning has really been affecting my back!

@Sophiedoodle glad you have spoken with your solicitor. Hopefully you can get a referral through the NHS quickly. I do understand there is a risk of paying it yourself.
hopefully with your work changing a bit, that might help. Please do shout if you need any help with anything x
