I've just spent half an hour giggling.
In lockdown, Paul can't play golf. So he has cleared a tee spot at the edge of our big field (3 acres) and is using it to practice hitting balls. My job (because I am such a good, loving wife) is to stand out there in the field, spot where each ball lands, and go and collect it. The grass is tussocky and beginning to get long, so quite often I can't find it....I get to the general area, but can't spot the blinkin' ball however hard I look.
Last autumn, Pongo did one or two sessions of scentwork, using cloves as his target scent.
So....today we put all Paul's golf balls in a bag with some cloves before he hit them, and I took Pongo and big bag of treats out to the field. All I had to do was take him to the general area where I saw each ball come down, ask him to look, and my big sniffy boy found every single ball. He had such a great time, it was so funny to see his delight at finding each little pool of clove-scent and getting his sausage.
Meanwhile Paul is seriously impressed....
