The wasps here have been out of control and Prim has been on a mission to catch one...well she did and paid the price. Her whole face swelled up like a balloon and her eyes puffed up and went red. Off the the emerg vet we went! She stayed for a few hours and had shots of antihistamine and steroids. Vet says she is hypersensitive to stings so to be careful. Didn’t get a pic at her worst though

Poor love, hoping she feels much better soon . One of my past Labs got stung by a bee when we lived in France and also had to be rushed to the Vets . When we collected her he said that it could go two ways, either a life long intolerance to stings or a total immunity , thankfully for her it proved to be the latter , get well soon Prim xxx

Poor little Prim, that must have been very painful, hope she is back to normal now. You mentioned going to emergency vet which gave me the frights as our emergency one is shut and I would have to drive 38 miles to the next one :|

We have two within 13 km (10-15 minute drive) but we still waited almost 2 hours for her to be triaged! We do live in a very populated area though.

Oh her poor little puffy face, hope she's better soon. Can she eat ok? Did the vet give you any meds to administer to her straight away if it happens again?

It was the emergency vet so I’ll speak to our vet on Monday about it and see what she recommends. She’s on human Benadryl every 8 hours for 3-5 days until the swelling goes down. I’ll make sure I have that on hand for sure!!

She was having trouble eating treats and ice cubes last night when we got home but seems better this morning. The swelling has gone down quite a bit already this morning!

She looks much better this morning and very lively. Just a little swelling on one side of her mouth so after one more dose of the antihistamine I think we’ll stop. It makes her very sleepy. She has not learned her lesson - still after all bugs, so I’m sure this will happen again at some point 😣
