Poppy Much Subdued

It might be just the hot weather, but this morning no waggy tail greeting, in fact no waggy tail at all. She ate her usual breakfast and we walked earlier than usual because of the already very warm day at 07:00. She was very subdued. About half way round Pops dived into a muddy pool and then perked up a bit so I guess she's just feeling the heat. The odd thing is she hasn't been panting, though. I wondered if the lack of waggy tail might be that thing Labs get when they wag too much but can't recall what it's called at the moment. Anyway we'll keep an eye on things and see how she goes on today.

It might be just the hot weather,
Likely to be that. Red is even quieter than normal today and her greeting this morning was significant lack of waggy tail. She’s had her early walk (no panting when she returned but clearly tired). She is completely fasto stretched right out. It’s 24 already and will be 28 at 8 this evening so a day of total inactivity

Same here, its saying 31/32 here for later. I've parked in the multistorey today which is cool and shaded so no hot car to get in and we only have a small bit of pavement, which is also shaded at that time of day, to get there. No walk later but Maisy won't mind, neither of us like this heat.

Its 25 here already and due to be 29/30ish later . I took ours out to the river very early and no more . Reuben is also a little subdued , he didnt even bother to come and greet us when we just got home from shopping x

Mine are both flaked out on the floor too, not even the usual sofa dispute this morning when I’ve sat down for a cup of coffee. They’ve had a potter around in the garden this morning, but that’s all.

I took my little grandson to preschool this morning and decided to pop i to the shops while I was in the town. There was a large car opposite mine with its windows slightly open and I could hear a dog barking inside. I was very relieved that the car had gone when I returned twenty minutes later.

Carbon has also lost some of his bounce. It's funny as I thought he had no energy when I first found him in Spain - true enough he had a host of health issues back then - but this trip has opened my eyes that he just doesn't cope well with heat. He may be ready for that Celtic name I always wanted to give him as he's more of a Cornish dog now than a Spanish one - at least when it comes to the temperature!

Just got back from the vet. I noticed this afternoon that Poppy was trying to sit in front of me but just doing a bob then standing up again. Strained tail, the vet thinks. Gave her a a jab to get her more comfortable quickly and then metacam for a week.

I'm pretty sure she did it yesterday hooning with Morse the pointer.

This is what Toffee had a couple of weeks ago, I recognised it as I had a dog with it before. He recovered really quickly with some metacam and a few quiet (for Toffee  ) days.

Here is this morning's update from Buckingham Palace.

Her Majesty is showing some improvement in her condition this morning. She is able to hold her tail at half mast and gently wag the bottom half of it. It is expected that she will continue to improve as long as she doesn't go to play with Morse again for a day or two.

Message ends.

Yes she seems much perkier, thanks. Even managed a bit of training this morning to keep a bored dog amused. We did a bit of "Round behind". In other words she recalls then goes round behind me and sits on my left side. Very endearing!
