Presents from your dog

The dog that lived here before we moved in was a grumpy old toy poodle called Jasper who buried all sorts of stuff in the garden that Chewie is slowly excavating. Hundreds of bones, socks, toothbrushes, balls. All dug up by Chewie and then deposited on the lawn because he isn't sure what to make of them.

When Fred was 12 weeks he brought me a dead rat. He wanted me to take it from him, well I ran for the hills. I hate rats. I kept saying drop it, but he wouldn't. He couldn't understand why I didn't want it. Fred gave it my OH in the end :puke:

Reuben has brought me a long dead pigeon , a dead rabbit dropped by a buzzard ( he ate it  ) dead fish . The strangest thing though was brought to me with such pride at Golitha Falls by Sam , a rolled up gentlemans umbrella which he came bounding out of the rough with xxx
What a good boy to bring you these dead things and not eat them and then a rolled up gentleman's umbrella  A friend of mine's Collie brought a very pretty, flowered bra out of the undergrowth in a wood!

You have to gracefully accept whatever they bring :D Rourke brought me a manky Muntjacs skull with brain intact, I took it via a poo bag!

Maybe not quite the same, but Cass loves to show people her stuffed pheasant, known as fezzie, parading it around holding it like a good gundog.
At New Year when I had some friends here for supper she kept bringing it to the dinner table, which was very endearing!
I looked across the table at one point to see that one of my guests had been the lucky recipient and was eating her supper with a stuffed pheasant sitting next to her plate!:laughdog::*

Holly brought us assorted bits of unidentified rotting animal. We were never allowed to take them, just admire them before she went back into the trees and tried to eat them.
She also brought us hundreds of tennis balls. We bought her two when she was a pup, she found many more on walks, most of which were split or rotting and ended up in the bin. Others were brought home, cleaned and played with until they fell apart or sank in ponds. We thought we'd got rid of them all but this week I found another 5 while cleaning the car and Ruth found some more in the garden.

I am so lucky withHarley. She sniffs dead birds, dead foxes, dead mice and even a deer that had some bits missing, then turns her nose up and walks away.
The first dead animal she seen was a bird when she was about 6 months old. Several other dogs were rolling in it and some lickingit. She went over to investigate, sniffed and ran back to us. She then took a wide birth past it😂
