Rajah Rallying

As I posted elsewhere, this weekend I'm rallying with Rajah in Somerset - and thank you for all the good luck messages.
We scored 185 at Level 3, which is a 'qualifying' but not 'excellent' score. I was pleased with the dear boy as he did as well as he could - we just haven't practiced the new exercises for long enough yet to really have them under our belt. Sadly at L4 we didn't get a qualifying score. This was partly down to a couple of mistakes on my part, but mostly because Rajah was too tired by the afternoon and just not engaged.
We have another show day tomorrow. I had taken him for a 30 minute early morning off-lead walk before today's show, during which time he raced around at top speed, so I think we'll probably skip that tomorrow, or perhaps cut it short. We'll do Level 3 tomorrow morning and then I'll decide in the afternoon whether to withdraw from L4.

Well this morning's level 3 round was absolutely awful! No excuses as it was a great course containing every sign we have practised successfully at home, but as soon as the lead came off Rajah's nose was down sniffing. He didn't actually run off but he kept darting to the side or stopping. We staggered through to the end but I decided to call it a day. We're back in our holiday home and he's catching up on his sleep. Then we're going to spend the rest of the day with my sister and walk with her and her dogs.
Someone said to me,'Well it's bound to be disappointing because you were used to winning with Molly.' I was really taken aback but actually Molly was placed in at least one class at all shows we entered, except the last (which was when I decided to retire her.) I'd never thought of her as a prize-winner!!
I think 2 day shows are too much for dear Rajah - it's just that I have to travel so far to enter that I find it tempting to push it a bit.
Anyway when he's had a rest we'll enjoy the rest of the day - sunshine here!
