Out of interest @snowbunny , did Willow struggle with anything in particular?
Yes and no. The situation was very novel, and she doesn’t deal well with anything novel. There was also a spot of ground she (and Luna) didn’t want to walk on, and I think that upset her a little. So the exercises are all things she can easily do, but she was just unsettled.

The next competition has just gone up. There’s only one every couple of months. I can’t compete this time because I have nowhere to do it. The place I had picked out is too buried in snow 😂
It’s going to be far easier for me to do it when I’m in Spain, so I think I’ll just do it when I’m there :)

We're just back from a week in Tenerife, but I'm hoping to record a round for this competition before the closing date. The level 3 bonus is walk backwards, which is still a work in progress, but we'll give it a go.

@Aitch Have a look at Welcome and News and see if you might like to have a go. You need to register before competing but you could be set up for the next one which is towards the end of April. It's obviously easier than real-life because you can practise the course first.

It's only 3 steps (the dog comes from heel to sit in front position and then backs up while handler walks frowards 3 steps.) Sometimes we get it right but often Molly doesn't stay straight. Just before I went away my obedience trainer had me using plank on the floor which was useful but I haven't had time to follow it up at home yet.

Our Rally "backwards three steps" is at heel. My biggest problem is that Ella's bum starts to swing out

Unless I shove a handful of treats in her mouth as I ask her to move backwards :LOL:

I usually hire a barn to record Molly's rounds but there were no times available this week so a friend and I hired a hall this afternoon to get it done. When it came to Molly's turn she just wasn't interested. First time I took the lead off she trotted off across the hall. Second try she sat down and absolutely refused to move. We stopped trying to record and I even tried a training round with treats, but she just wasn't going to do it. So no competition entry for us this time.

I decided not to let it worry me and stopped at Cuckmere Haven on the way home for a walk. There were loads of big, shallow puddles and she splashed through them and looked happy - and then fell naturally into a beautiful heel position next to me. I wonder what goes through her head sometimes...

I think we can be so focussed to “get the thing done” that we act a bit weird, which puts them off. Or maybe just being in a strange location put her on the back foot.
Whatever it was, good for you listening to her rather than trying to force a round.
