Recommendations please

Am asking Paul for a new camera as a present for that festive season that I don't want to name yet ! Am not looking to spend an awful lot but my current one is a little Samsung , very basic with poor definition . My mobile phone ( currently in my bedside drawer ! ) is also basic , I don't even know if it takes photos because its practically prehistoric ! So , any recommendations for a decent but not bank breaking camera would be grand, thanks xx

I don't own a camera Kate - always use my Samsung phone - fabulous photos.
G and S both have fair sized Canons so I'm afraid I am no help.

Kate, I think a ball park budget may help. I use my iPhone, and we have a fancy canon DSLR, but I had a lovely little nikon digital camera before that, a lot of them nowadays have wifi cabability too.

I have an old Panasonic Lumix compact camera which I absolutely love. It has been way superseded in terms if pixels now, so I imagine the new one is even better - around £200.
I also have a Canon DSLR, but have not got to grips with it very well

I have a Canon Dslr but I’m lazy and can’t be bothered carrying such a big camera. The photos it takes are fabulous ‘tho. You can get really good second hand ones now that mirrorless SLRs are on the rise.

I’m saving up for one - eeep!

I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC TZ80. as I am a point and shoot type person! It takes good pics and it is easy to upload the photo's. The zoom is also good as Hunter can be camera shy!

Amazon has some quite good deals at the moment. Digital compact camera's are better if you want to keep it simple.

The Lumix is certainly portable..

You could look at the Canon Powershot range. I have a Canon G11, which is old now but still takes wonderful pictures. It's slightly larger than a normal compact camera, but far smaller than a DSLR. You could probably pick up a G15 or G16 pretty cheap somewhere.

My 'point and press' go everywhere camera is a Nikon Coolpix L110. It's a bridge camera. It has good optics, 15x zoom, good depth of colour, and takes nice video. The current version is called the Coolpix B500. I got the unfashionable red coloured version which was £20 cheaper than black!
