Red has a lump

My friend was stroking Red and found a lump on the back of her head - behind her ear. You can’t see it as there is so much fur. It is soft and movable. It isn’t bothering her. I’ve taken her to the vets today (I couldn’t just ignore it) and we have agreed to monitor it. The vet did say she could do a needle aspiration but wasn’t pushing it. She’s measured it and recorded it. She gave her a good check all over. I’m hoping it’s a fatty lump.

Red is such a sweetie at the vets - she waits so patiently and then allows the vet to do what has to be done - I’m very proud of her

Annie has a couple and that is what my vet said. That was over 18 months ago and they haven't changed and do not bother her.
Hope Red is alright too.

Oh dear, our Labradors do seem to have a tendency for lumpiness as they get older, don't they? I do hope Red's lump stays as it is and doesn't need any further action. Sending and.

Annie has a couple and that is what my vet said.

Tuppy has some too. The vet aspirated one a few months ago and it was a fatty lump. The nurse checked another one last week when we went for our usual ‘treats’ visit, as I thought perhaps it had grown a little. However, it doesn’t bother her, so we agreed just to keep monitoring.

Snowie had one on his side. I’ve been feeling it for about a year. Vet wasn’t concerned. But in the past week or two it has got quite a bit bigger and is now noticeable when just looking at him. It’s moveable.

We have a standing monthly vet appointment (Cytopoint injection), so we’ll ask him to check it—next week Friday. Although we have agreed previously that we will not be investigating any more lumps. The last aspiration (last year) turned into a massive infection that took months and three rounds of antibiotics to treat. Our vet said he only wants to keep Snowie comfortable, that he’s too old for any major treatment. But of course this lump worries me. Interestingly, every lump we’ve investigated turned out to be nothing. And he’s had quite a few over his 13.5 years.

@M.F. Snow's twin Rourke, had a lump on his side that was as big as a hen's egg and then out of the blue, it reduced!. Hope the same for Snowie.

Any lump is a worry. My heart sank when my friend found this lump on Red. I hope Snowie’s lump is just a fatty lump.

I totally understand. My heart sinks every time, too. And every time it’s been nothing thankfully. I hope the same with Red.

Poppy is covered in lumps! They don't seem to bother her at all. We had one needle aspiration done, but since then I've just let them alone. Good job for having it checked out by the vet.
