Red is not well

She was sick on Saturday straight after her tea. Was surprised but thought it was just one of those things - she had perhaps scoffed her tea too quick. Yesterday when I was out, I got a text from F saying he didn’t think she was well as she was in her bedtime (not daytime) bed and looked sorry for herself. When I got home, I thought she’s a bit quieter than normal but eating/sleeping/pooing/weeing ok.

Then this morning, I suddenly noticed she was drooling clear liquid and quite a lot of it. I thought of Tatze and her drooling recently. She was lip smacking quite a bit. I have never seen her drool before.

Red has been very quiet - not pestered for her kong this morning but ate it when I gave it to her. She is also not weeing - gone out into the garden a couple of times with her. The most recent time, she sat twice as if she had a problem with her bottom (not actually scooting on her bottom but almost).

I don’t want to go rushing off to the vets but I am quite worried - something is definitely not right with her

I agree give the vet a call. Drooling in this context could mean pain, especially combined with lip smacking. Good luck!:hug:

Drooling has stopped. She has eaten her kong and now gone to sleep in her day bed (that’s not unusual). Vets are open until 7 and they do do 24 hours emergency. F feels we continue to observe. I am still worried, but less than earlier. Somehow feel she may be a bit nauseous. If I’m not sure in a couple of hours, I’ll contact the vets

So sorry to hear. Did you recently deworm her? Or apply tick/flea preventatives? Did she eat something while out? The sitting in the garden sounds like a weakness in the hind area. Is she wobbly at all?

Feel better soon, Red! xxx

Well I think I am right that she has been feeling nauseous. She had her tea and was almost like her usual self wanting to play with her squeaky 🎾. Then I took her out. We’d barely got walking and she dragged me to grass and had a poo 💩. When she’d finished, she immediately turned her head round to her back end and was really agitated. Then she did another poo 💩 but it was stuck so I had to pull it out (hope no one eating!). Not easy in the dark - I did have an inverted poo bag on my hand so no worries there. She had obviously been eating grass as that’s why the poo 💩 was stuck. She’s now fast asleep 💤 which is normal for her in the evenings. I feel less concerned now but will watch her very carefully.

Thank you everyone for responding

Yes apparently Red’s best buddy Bailey the black lab has been sick. She often has a play with him if they meet on the morning walk
Yes, I'm almost sure Tatze’s drooling was due to nausea or tummy ache. She had sloppy poos in the night too.

Sounds like the bug which was going round.
