Red is not well

So good that Red's home safe and that nothing untoward has been found. She does look a bit sorry for herself in the photo, but she's probably a bit groggy still from thr anaesthetic. I hope she feels more like herself soon, and that you can get to the bottom ( sorry about the turn of phrase!) of the problem.

It says ‘the test gives information on your pet’s internal organs, in particular the liver and kidneys. In the early stages of reduced organ function, your pet may not be showing any signs of illness, which is why this blood test is so import to pick up these problems, particularly in older animals. Identifying these problems enables us to greatly reduce the anaesthetic risk by giving supportive therapy before, during and after the anaesthetic. We strongly advise all animals coming in for anaesthesia be blood tested, but particularly those pets over the age of 7 years’.

i don’t understand what the supportive therapy is. I will ask
This happened with moo I always do the test and I was glad I did. She was in kidney failure and her planned surgery would have caused potential problems if we hadn't known. Support therapy was used with moo she was given a hydrating drip a few hours before to help with her kidneys function.i always do the test. It's worth it to me

Good to hear she's safely home again and nothing seriously wrong showing up. Hope you have a good night and that Red starts to feel properly well soon. x

I hope Red’s had a good night and is well again soon.

I hope Red is feeling more comfortable and a bit more like herself this morning. xx
Thank you for asking. She was very preoccupied with her back end first thing. Circling, sitting down and looking for somewhere to lie first thing but we have been walking and she’s had a soft poo. She was also licking part of her shaved area which is extensive - aah!

She met her 3 favourite black labs and had zoomies so she’s resting now. I must admit my anxieties are high which I need to rein in - not helpful

Did they say why they needed the anaesthesia for a scan? Snowie has had several scans (swallowed a sharp bone once, prostate, bladder), and never sedated for any of them.

I’d rub some baby nappy rash/barrier cream on the shaved area. It will create a skin barrier and make it far more comfortable for her. I like to use Sudocrem, it’s healing and soothing.

I hope all the tests help you figure out what’s going on. And that Red gets better soon. xxx

Would it help to put a dog medivest on her? I know it’s a bit warm at the moment, but you could then also use the Sudocrem on the shaved area, as @M.F. suggests.

I looked after a friend’s young spaniel for a day recently and she was wearing a medivest, as she’d eaten a sock a couple of days beforehand and had to have an op to remove it! It seemed to work well - and that event hadn’t been part of the plan when I’d agreed to look after her!

Yes they said she needed the g.a. I reckon is was only mild (not that I know anything about these things) as she has cried in the past after a g.a.

How is Red this morning @Atemas
Thank you for asking @Cath. Still bothered a bit with her bottom but not as much as yesterday morning. The shaved patch looks ok. I have noticed her licking but the donut has arrived (yet to try/put it on her) if we need to use it. The vet is contacting me today with preliminary results of the fecal samples. She said the bloods show nothing sinister including the malabsorption test.

Thank you @Cath. Was much perkier on our early morning walk. She is still bothered by her bottom first thing.
Vet says all bloods ok and she had a few results of the fecal samples showing nothing. She won’t get the salmonella and cryptosporidium results until later next week.

I have started giving Red FortiFlora - a canine probiotic which is sprinkled on her food
