Reuben at the Vets this afternoon

Sue has just called me , I have to put Reuben onto a red meat free diet for five days and then collect a faecal sample . He can have rice , potato ( they make him sick ) white fish, boiled chicken, cottage cheese and eggs or I can buy a prepared food from the Vets which is tempting really . She is a little concerned that his poo is still black so I guess she is taking a belt and braces approach , which I am happy with xx

What is her reasoning? Is she thinking the red meat itself is coming out black? Or is it irritating his bowel? It did occur to me that he might be eating a lot of liver? It can come out black in poo.

It is a rule set by the Lab that does the analysis , maybe they have some link between red meat and blood in poo , Reuben doesnt have any liver or offal of any type x

Thank you dear friends for your well wishes for my boy . His poo this morning was a mix of brown and black but Sue still wants him to have the faecal test as this happened a couple of months ago, cleared and then came back . I am concerned because on his last mast cell tumour removal surgery , Sue found a second one on his hock which, when tested afterwards , was also a grade 2 mast cell tumour and sadly because of its location she was unable to get any margins . I am still clinging on to the hope that he has an ulcer , known for being caused by mast cell cancer but treatable most of the time xxx
