Reuben helps Nelly but he doesn`t realise it !

Nelly is slowly losing her sight , which for a deaf dog is a big deal, probably more so for me than her, bless her . She is still very happy to go for walks but if she dallies too much and gets more than a few yards behind me , she will quickly become distressed as she literally cant see me and will cry . Reuben enjoys running backwards and forwards with his kong on a rope so this is what happens . She falls behind and will stand and wait , I call Reubs to go fetch her and he will run to her, usually overshooting and then turn to come back to her whereupon she will look at him and run alongside until she reaches my side . Its very sweet to see , is like he has become her safety net without even realising it , this from today x

When my Mama Jodhi went deaf, I'd tell Brogan to go get her and he'd run and grab her by the collar and drag her back. She didn't need to be dragged back - she could see just fine, just needed to be told to come back - but she always had a maniacal grin on her face when he did it, so I guess she didn't mind his high-handedness!

I know that he isn't mature enough to understand fully what he is doing , but I guess its a form of retrieving for him , its just very sweet , brings tears to my eyes x

Bear is very short sighted now as well as being almost deaf. I know how distressing it can be for them so having someone like Reuben will be an absolute saver for Nelly.

It is so lovely , Sam was always protective of Nelly and would herd her back if needed . Reuben was somewhat clumsy around her at first, but is now very sweet and kind to her . I love how she looks at him as she follows him x
