Reverse sneezing

Reuben has just had an episode of this , something I have never witnessed before in any of my many dogs , its horrible to watch , went on for several moments . I stroked his head and chin , it began to subside and he is fine now , poor lamb x

Poor guy...when Quinn did this last year, I called in sick to work! It was scary!

Doug used to get it a lot it a bit scary at first but it was ok once I got used to it. XXX

@kateincornwall, my GSP used to do this a lot, I used to just massage her throat. It is disturbing to watch but according to vet, nothing to worry about. However, I would always have a dog checked the first time they did it.

Kipper does it once in a while; it scares him, but I find gentle stroking and reassurance helps. Online recommendations are to blow up their nose (!) but Kipper wouldn’t be amenable to this. I think the theory is it’s a bit like hiccups in people, if you can interrupt the spasm that should fix it.

The strange thing was that Reubs was not too bothered, his tail was wagging throughout the episode , but when it was over , I cuddled him and he went quite Gaga and sloppy

Both Brogan and Duncan did it quite a bit. Maybe Rottweilers do it more than Labs because of their different head shape? It never bothered them, sounds like happy Reuben is the same.

Finn does it regularly. The other labs we had never did. I let him drink some water. He knows now that he has to drink water, so I tell him to get some water which he does. Or he gets something to eat like an apple or carrot. This helps too!

Ella does it a bit. I often find she does it when we're doing some training bits and pieces and she takes the treats a little too enthusiastically.
