Yes agree with thatand removing it is quite a good "off" switch I find.

My GSPs only wore collars when we went out, but a vet who was a friend I walked with, said they should wear collars when at home in case they accidentally got out. I suppose these days they can be scanned.Cass's everyday collar is one of those polo belt ones so I do clean the leather . She only wears it when she goes out or if we do some training or games, I like the look of her without it round her neck and removing it is quite a good "off" switch I find.
Of course, it never gets muddy - God ! No! but it does have to stand up to brambles and bracken etc if the nose takes it! And as such looks a little worse for wear, so now she has a tweed one for "best".
It's been so bad here I've come stripped the dogs of collars leads and harnesses, then taken all my clothes off including coat trousers and socks. Then washed the dogs toweled them down put towels in the washing machine with everything else. One week I did it 3 days in a row and had only short walks because the weather was so bad.good job the boys like a good towelling downI wash Fred and Annie collars. I put them in a old sock into the washing machine with any dog blankets that need washing, then hang them by the radiator.
They do have a Christmas collar each too.
It is bad enough with one dog, to have to do it with three, I sympathise.
