Rourke and Stem Cell Replacement Therapy

Rourke's lameness has been getting worse and worse since March, he has had various rehab treatments (at great cost) and now the vet has said Stem Cell Replacement, so that is where he is today away at another vet in another town. He is severely lame and I don't really hold out much hope. It is so sad, he was such a fit, bright boy who loved life and retrieving, now his life is curtailed. I am feeling very blue, the house is so dead without him.

Rourke his home now having been injected in both shoulders and left hind hock, he looks a mess with the large shaved areas and at the moment is upside down on his bed asleep. He is only to go in the garden on the lead for 48 hours and he never poos in the garden and very rarely urinates, so difficult times ahead. After 48 hours he can have 3 x 15 minutes walk a day but it doesn't say for how long! I have to take him for laser on Saturday and then again on Wednesday and then every week! He can have hydrotherapy, but she is moving this week to further away, but I can still take him. A busy time ahead.

I so hope that this therapy works for Rourke. It sounds very positive. The laser and hydro is also good. Best of luck. I am thinking of you both and send much love to you xxx

Pleased to hear you’ve got Rourke home and recovering - it must tough to see him in a mess but you’re doing all you can for him, and giving him the best chance. He couldn’t hope for a better human in his corner x

I have so much admiration and respect for you and all you are doing for Rourke. Though it is difficult (and expensive) for you, you're soldiering on and trying all sorts of things to help him. He's a very lucky boy to have you as his ML and I'm sure he knows it. All the Lambies that you see incremental progress/improvement over the next weeks and months thanks to this treatment he's had today.
