Rourke and Stem Cell Replacement Therapy

I have only skimmed this article, so apologies. It does suggest that about 10 - 14 days is a reasonable time frame in which to see improvements.

Stem Cell Replacement Therapy

I hope it goes well with the follow up on Tuesday
Thank you @Beanwood, if I went onto Google and put in Stem Cell replacement therapy I would get someone from the 'stem cell vet' in Somerset phoning me, so could never find a straight answer. In the end I went on to an American site but didn't see anything about when I might expect an improvement, so a big thank you. It is day 9 and no sign of improvement :(

I am feeling very disheartened today, Rourke is still very, very lame on his right foreleg/shoulder. To think I started this year, with him doing wonderful retrieves across the fields which he loved, we were booked for the summer gundog classes, had lovely walks with friends on private land and now it has all ended. He started to be only slightly lame in early March and now it is the pits. I have been through so much treatment at the rehabilitation vet, had high hopes, all now dashed.

If only I could find a pain killer for him, can't take NSAIDs. I just feel I am going to have to lose him soon.

This is so sad to read @Jelinga , and I’m sorry for Rourke’s ongoing lameness and the weight of it all on you. I completely sympathize, and a year ago felt very similar, albeit with a younger dog.
Your appointment on Tuesday will shed light on the currently murky picture. It’s so difficult not to have solutions for Rourke’s limp but there may yet be hope in the stem cell therapy. I’m so sorry you’re going through this x

Forgive me for not remembering about your younger, I hope there was a good outcome? I'm glad I have gone down the rehabilitation avenue as surgery wouldn't have been an answer, at least I will have done my best for Rourke, but nevertheless at my age, the loss of my dog is enormous and I don't mean loss by death (yet), my whole way of life has changed.

I am sorry for all that you’re going through. I’d be in a state of anxiety in your shoes. There surely must be some pain medication that can work? Can he have a cortisone injection directly into the painfully area? What about paracetamol? Have you tried turmeric paste? I am sure you’re trying everything, but I so hope there’s one more stone to turn. Thinking of you and Rourke and sending much love xxx

Thank you, he was on steriods but it is not advisable to give them for 60 days after the op. I think I will try Paracetamol, haven't yet tried turmeric paste. Problem is, arthritis and tendonitis, one needs exercise and one needs rest!

It may just be worth giving turmeric paste a try , Sonia . You can buy the ready made paste from Amazon, its called Golden Paste for dogs . Some dogs find it a good pain killer/anti inflammatory treatment , Reuben has benefitted from it on occasions as he cannot take NSAID either . xx
