I`m so sorry to hear this , poor lad . My two havent ever been sick from Golden Paste , I am sorry xxx
I actually haven't given any yet, was just concerned as Rourke had been sick three time over a few days and he is never sick! I wondered if Golden Paste could make them sick before I start with it. Have you found it has helped with the pain? When we started with golden paste we started with small amounts and I also mix mine with salmon oil so it spreads over his food easier.
How much did you give Rourke?
It's around about 10mg/kg two or 3 times daily.I have a memory like a sieve! Can anyone help with the correct dose of Paracetamol (human) for a 30kg dog please?
Thank you very much Jacqui, dose is now written down! I am reluctant to start pain killing medication, don't know why! Possibly because Rourke vomited blood on NSAIDs and when my previous Lab Drift had Gabapentin it made him sick for 3 days constantly and he had to be put down. It's around about 10mg/kg two or 3 times daily.
Although Pardale V, the branded paracetamol/codeine works out at 33mg/kg.
I would say that for Rourke, 250mg three times daily would ve a comfortable starting dose.
Sonia Rory has the most delicate stomach he has colitis and is extremely reactive to any NSAIDs. He can't take any at all but he is fine on paracetamol. He's never despite having reactions to a lot of drugs had a reaction to paracetamol. If you are very worried about giving them to him you can get a stomach protectors from your vet. I know it's hard but you could try giving him a small dose and see how it goes. Sending you and Rourke love and hugsThank you very much Jacqui, dose is now written down! Yes they are cheaper just don't tell the pharmacy they are for your dogThank you very much @SwampDonkey, it does give me encouragement to try them, do you give human ones? xx
I use the cheap as chips ones from the supermarket ....just as good, easy to break caplets.do you give human ones
paracetamol drips are great Ive used them a lot myself. I use omeprazole for Rory due to his tummy problems it's really helped. When Reuben had his cancer surgery , our Vet gave him paracetamol by drip and then tablets to come home with as NSAID`s make him so terribly sick . She also gave us some omeprazole to protect his tummy xx
