Sensitive tummy food?

Are any of your lovely dogs on sensitive tummy food?

I'm going to take Tatze to the vets tomorrow. She's had a runny tummy on and off for about 2 weeks and occasionally brings up watery bile in the morning. I suspect the vets first suggestion will be sensitive tummy food. If it's prescribed by them it will cost a fortune, so I wondered if anyone had any suggestions?

She's dozier than usual today, bless her.

Poor Tatze, and you - you’ll be glad to get that sorted, hopefully they give you a simple solution. Kipper has a sensitive tummy, and after much trial and error (including the vets exclusive recommendations which didn’t suit), we’ve landed on Wolfworthy. Kipper has beef, Stilton has all fish due to suspected allergies.

It’s not cheap but it’s nutritionally good and they love it, and it does them well - plus being kibble it’s jolly easy. Good luck, I hope you find the right thing for Tatze.

Don’t know whether this is helpful. If Red has an upset tum I give her Pro Kolin twice a day for a few days. After her HGE last year, the vet advised a Probiotic daily. I sprinkle it daily on her usual food. Touch wood, all has been well since. Yes it’s another expense but better than changing food.

I always give her 5 Fish biscuits (Fish4Dogs) at bedtime as she had the watery bile first thing - they work. Of course they are now routine and she’s always in a hurry to go to her nighttime bed 😂

I give both of mine a good tablespoon of natural yoghurt every day, (I make my own)it was suggested by my old vet when Lottie was a pup as she was prone to loose stools. I stay clear of packet treats instead they get dehydrated sweet potato. Sliced thin and baked in oven gas 2 for about 4-6hrs.
Touch wood runny tummies are rare but always have a tube of pro-kaolin and tins of pumpkin at the back of the cupboard for emergencies.

I really like yoghurt too. Protein plus good stuff for their tummies.

I’ve found it hard to find canned pumpkin here in the UK, but the Tesco nearby stocks frozen butternut squash chunks which have the same benefits from what I can tell and are easy to cook.

The dehydrated sweet potato is a great idea for treats. I think that’s what @HAH gave to Carbón a while back and he loooooved them. 🥰

Thank you all.

The vet said, as I expected, to look at her diet first. I've been giving her chappie and canned pumpkin for a few days with a little egg and rice at bedtime. I've also bought Purina Pro Plan FortiFlora Canine Probiotic for her.

I'm still considering what food to move her on to two. 🤔

I've got some sweet potato to make the dried treats🙂

Tatze is a lot brighter today and her poos are firming up, so fingers crossed. 🤞🤞

Flicka had a very dicky bowel when I first had her, lots of special food and treatment at vet. When more settled I put her on Millies Wolfheart food, the duck one to begin with and she has been perfect ever since.
