We have today taken on a short-term emergency foster
When I say “we”, I’m in Andorrà, so it’s just J at this point!

There is a case of parvo at the shelter, one puppy died last night and another two are sick today.
The local police called them about a young puppy they had picked up, but they don’t want to risk it at the shelter … so we now have young puppy No Name!



He’s well fed and in good condition, so hopefully it’s just the case that he’s got lost and will be reclaimed soon.

Wowsers @snowbunny - yet again, thank goodness for you and J I hope puppy finds his owners shortly but he’s in clover for the time being!
On a completely unrelated topic, do you know how one might go about setting up charitable status…?

Oh, is that what you reckon he is? I’ve never seen one so young. J said he’s a lovely puppy, clearly very young but already “quite big”.

Well I guess he COULD be something else, but the coat color, face shape, etc. immediately says mastin to me. A lot of mastin's have those extra toes/dewclaws, so have J count his toes.

I can't quite work out from the photo who looks the most content... Hooman or 4 legged hooman.
The markings are stunning. Actually similar to my bro's daschhound . However that pupster is something else and rather larger

I shall have him look! He has named him Dexter
I’ve never seen a brindle mastín here, they’re generally the very pale with light brown patches flavour.

The 'tiger stripe' brindle is pretty common down south. I think the colors and even shapes change a lot by region. Those ones in the north look like they are wearing hooded capes, they have so much extra skin!

That’s exciting, congratulations! I was being a bit flip - thought we might know a mutual friend interested in formalizing some sort of top end dog sanctuary….

I got back to Spain this morning (car excitement on the way, can life not go smoothly for a while, please?) and have just met Dexter for the first time. I have been jumped on, chewed, and weed on. Standard puppy, then! He’s not as big as I’d imagined, a little smaller than Bella who is just shy of 9kg. He’s a little sweetie, anyway. I want to get started on walking with people ASAP as it would be great to teach him leash manners from the start like I did with Squidge, especially if he’s going to be big. We went for a short walk around the land and he was a star. Of course, that’s to be expected from a young puppy, and I’m under no illusions that it’s going to last, but at least getting the foundations of that and recall in now will help the job of whoever has him down the line.

I need to get my proper camera out with him, but here’s a sneak peek from my iPhone.

He has the sweetest little face. Car trouble sounds rubbish but glad this little sausage was there to greet you - sounds like he’s been fully inducted in chateau Snowbunny! Fab you’re introducing foundations for whoever is fortunate enough to give him a permanent family. He’s one lucky pup
