Got an appointment tomorrow to see Poppy and take her for a walk! I'm not going to sleep tonight. We are away for a week but the Police Dogs will keep her until we get back no problem and give us time to get the basics like the crate back from number one son and a new dog bed and food. They say she is a lovely dog. Very affectionate just not quite enough concentration for wat they want her for.

We are away again the first week of August for a couple of nights so she'll have to go into kennels then. Apparently she's well used to kennels already but I called the kennels where we took Lady once a month for 11 years and a) they were really excited too, b) they were full, c) they did some rearranging and fitted her in. I'll take her there a couple of times beforehand for day care so she gets used to them.

This all presupposes we will take her but, hey! Do bears ......... in the woods!

Will report back with hopefully some better photos. Training is going to be interesting. Apparently her recall is spot on. She will walk on a slack lead most of the time. However, she is trained to jump up and put her paws on people. :tmi: So number one priority will be to work on that. Or of course I could just say sorry she's a sniffer dog and she's trained to do that with people carrying weed! :giggl:

How exciting! Hope your walk goes well! I'm sure her training to jump means she does it on cue and not like a regular young lab who takes you out!!

Hope all goes well tomorrow, David. She sounds ideal. I wish I could use that excuse about jumping up for Wispa!

Just got back. Poppy is lovely and that reddish shade of yellow. We met in a room and then took her for a short walk. Not pulling per my earlier post was a bit exaggerated because she pulled like a train at first but indeed, settled fairly soon to not pulling. She hasn't been trained to walk to heal. In fact it seems the opposite - she walks ahead and investigates everything. DOB 5/2/20. Here's a picture of what is about to become a work in progress!
