Thought we were having a good day with Buddy today, more settled, loved having a shower (he was a bit stinky when we got him home) and only one accident inside (which was my fault for not taking him out quick enough), but after a dose of Drontal that he was due he has been a nightmare! Much more bitey, VERY hyper and crying at us for no reason, could it be the Drontal or just normal lab puppy behaviour?

We were ok with the first few doses of drontal then Lilly started being sick the day after it.
Puppies beong more bitey and hyper after a week or two is pretty common. Once the honeymoon period is over....

You hear stuff anecdotally about Drontal, lots of dogs seem to get a bit of an iffy tum with it and behave a bit crazy. Xena only had it once and she was fine, but I now use Endogard (just because it's cheaper). You could try a different brand for his next treatment, just to see if you notice a difference, but Jacqui's right, could be the pill, could be just being a puppy.
It can be either like Jaqui has said but from personal experience Vanilla went absolutely mental. She would jump, her bite would be far harder than normal. It only lasted for about 24hours, but she was like a devil possessed. She would turn within about an hour of taking the tablet. We now use Milbemax and she is OK.
Apperantly some dogs can be affected, but that is the same with any medication.

I don't us frontal one of my dogs had a response to it. She was sick after using it usually within the hour. I use milbemax too with no problem.one of my dogs has colitis and I've noticed that when his tummy hurts he gets bitey and ott with the pain.

Anecdotal evidence here too... Ella went absolutely nuts on Drontal when she was a puppy. She was about 14 weeks old and we couldn't get her to settle for 6hrs! I remember climbing onto the dining room table to get away from her 
Devil possessed is exactly what he was like! And then so shattered last night we had to wake him up to go outside before bed. Seems to be fine now, playing and ate breakfast as normal. Think we will be using something else next time!

Speak to your vet about the suspected reaction and they should be able to suggest a different produce with an alternative active ingredient.

Hehe, well I'd be waiting and seeing if it's just normal puppy ridiculousness before blaming the Drontal, because puppies can be nuts for no apparent reason, too. I'm not saying it's not the Drontal, but it's still early days with him and a one-off episode isn't necessarily an accurate indication of anything.
I know with my first puppy, she was a menace in those early weeks at the same time every evening. We called i "the witching hour". I started taking her for a carry around the village at that time because there was no settling her at home.

Reuben has had two doses of Milbermax now with no adverse reaction, so I will stick with it . He has set times of the day when he is like a thing possessed ! I usually take him into the hallway and attempt a few short training exercises with him , or take him for a short walk which I know isn't an option for you just yet . I did find that once I got him out into the big wide world , his manic periods became shorter , he became more inclined to rest even if not asleep . We are currently on two short walks per day , the second being off lead which he adores , I`m sure you will find some peace once Buddy can work off some energy out and about x

Well, it could be either! However, all of my dogs have reacted against Drontal and I used Millbemax once a year now. I am a little surprised a young puppy is given Drontal, my vet just gives medication only for round worms at that age.
Pepper’s on Millbemax and Bravecto as recommended by our local vet. Not had any manic reactions to either. His manic moments just happen at any time!
He dislikes both tablets so we have to cut them up and hide them in sausage covered in squeezy cheese or peanut butter to get them inside him!

We used Drontal puppy suspension which the breeder had used previously before he came to us, but will definitely ask the vet for advice for next time when we are there next

My lot have the VetUK version of Drontal/Endogard - they all contain the same active ingredients. Plus I use Advocate over the dangerous months because of the risk of heart worm here.

I've tried that but Maisy licks it off and leaves it, soaked in melted butter or beef fat is my new way of tricking her!

Maisy had a reaction to Drontal, she was whining and unsettled. She was so tired and wanted to sleep but kept getting up and pacing. She had the tablet in the morning and it wore off by about 6pm. I rang the vet who said that it is a common reaction to Drontal. We now use Milbemax and Nexgard.
