Sikki Meg

All we got was "tummy upset" - an anti-sickness injection & some probiotic paste - £74 thank you very much.

The vet came out to the car & took the history, then she took Meg into the surgery for examination. Meg trotted off happily with her. And she trotted happily back to me less than 5 minutes later. I asked if she (vet) managed to examine Meg. "a little". Oh they weighed her OK, then it would seem it went downhill when the stethoscope came out and the hands approached. She said Meg was "very scared".

Yes, I feel rotten for putting her through this, but it was acutely necessary.

She said if the vomiting starts up again tomorrow I should try Hills i/d prescription diet. Hmm.

I put the first dose of paste in her bowl, bearing in mind she is starving, she sniffed it and looked up at me...WHAT'S THIS? So I topped it with some steamed fish & oats and a blob of yoggies. She wolfed it all. Meg is now happily playing ball, attacking the mower, wrestling Coco & barking at a little dog loose in the road.

I don't think I'm any further forward with this.

Not really but they need to rule out simple stuff first. My vets got used to me now so they listen. Hopefully it will be ok but if not they will get in a more listening frame of mind

Hmm, sounds frustrating. I know you've always documented the upsets on here so perhaps you could put together a bit of a log of the history for them to look at?

I understand the process of elimination but have they ruled out/confirmed anything yet? Or will anything they've done today lead to another step/test/strategic for next time?

I showed her the square of stuff she sicked up, she thought it looked like soil/stone type stuff and is thinking she's scavenged and that's upset her sensitive stomach. I can't be 100% she hasn't.

This doesn't sound very satisfactory for you :(

But without knowing the cause? I appreciate it's difficult to diagnose without a full examination though. I agree with Emily about presenting them with your log. Do they want to see her again?

That's frustrating for you. Clearly it's not just an upset tummy due to a temporary bug or reaction to something she's eaten when it's been going on so long. I suppose an exclusion diet might be one way forward. Did the rehoming centre you got her from have any history of her sickness?
