Skin tags

Snowie has two skin tags on his right groin/inner hip area where there’s not much hair. Should I be worried? The first appeared about 3-4 months ago. A vet saw it and dismissed it “oh, just a skin tag”. But the other evening I felt another which is probably just starting cos it’s very small. Is this something that dogs get as they age? I have a memory of reading a paper long ago that mentioned that, in humans, skin tags on the neck were related in some way to kidney problems, hence why I’m wondering if I should be worried. We have his annual vet check up coming up in about a month so I guess I can wait until I see the vet then.

Brogan got more of these as he got older. None of his vets seemed worried by them and they didn't cause a problem. A tag near his eye one of his vets lopped off without even asking me - that was rather terrifying but didn't seem to hurt Brogan at all.

In my experience skin tags, warts, little lumps and bumps tend to develop more as a dog ages. Labradors are particularly prone apparently. Murphy, my previous lab, had quite a few as he got old. I would point them out to the vet when we went and would be told to keep an eye on them incase they changed or grew rapidly otherwise not to worry. Murphy had some removed when he had an op. My vet doesn't remove them unless the dog is having an op anyway or they are in a place where they could cause problems for example they keep getting knocked.
