Something rather lovely happened today

We had taken the dogs to Par beach on this beautiful day . Nelly isnt interested in fetching balls and doesnt like to get her paws wet , so she comes down to the waterline and just messes around with bits of seaweed whilst the big lad runs in and out of the sea , chasing his ball and generally being a loon . He has being everso good , politely meeting and greeting other dogs but showing no inclination to follow them when suddenly , he spotted a black Lab walking quite sedately along the beach with its owners . Before I had chance to stop him , he ran over ball in mouth , I`m sure he thought it was his pal Carbon . I watched as he dropped his ball in front of the lady owner , she threw it a very little way into the surf , Reuben ran in followed by the black Lab . They then began to play around at the edge of the water , I was walking towards them to remove Reubs , Nelly by my side and calling to the lad who began to return to me . The man called out and asked Please could I let them play for a little while longer ? As I reached them I could see that their dog was quite elderly but the two dogs resumed play and a very teary lady explained that this was the first time Ben had actually played in ages as he had been very poorly with liver disease . She went on to tell me that Ben had been very depressed , his prognosis was not great , but that to see him playing and interacting was wonderful , it had lifted their spirits and Bens too , the power of dogs was made very clear to me xxxx

Oooer! Wet eyes! Might have known! How lovely. Well done Mr. Reubs, growing into a gentle and sensitive boy, just as we'd expect. (Well, mostly ...probably!)
