Sore Paws

My poor baby girl has sore paws!
Yesterday, she just started limping out of the blue. I couldn’t see anything wrong with her so I gave her some metacam at work just in case.
She was still limping this morning, so I had another look and saw that both of her back paws are a little raw! I have no idea how that happened now it’s time to try and make her more comfortable

Have you put anything on under the bandages? cream or something? or are they for comfort and protection? Very nicely done I might add.

I gave them a clean, then lathered on sudocrem! They’re more for protection so they don’t get more irritated by being in direct contact with the ground. There’s a big dressing pad over them too so it’s not just the bandage. When I go out, I’ll put some socks over them too x

I’ve just been on the phone to my boss, and there’s a possibility it could be due to fertiliser in the field at work She is going to check all the dogs paws up at work and get back to me!

Maxx had something similar once when we had a holiday down the south coast. The poor boy suddenly started limping badly and we saw the bright red on the underside of his paws. The vet said it could have been something on the beach. We had cream plus daily malasab and it healed quite quickly

I have texted our vet to see what he thinks. I’m just wondering whether she needs antibiotics or not

You can get the Pawz rubber foot protectors which protects the dressing and keeps everything dry. I used the for Doug and Rory

I would take her to the vet, just to be on safe side.

Should it be covered? Wouldn't letting the air dry it out be better? xx

After speaking to the vet, he told me just to put a sock over it, so it’s protected, but air is still getting in.
He says she doesn’t need any antibiotics as it’s a superficial wound, but if it starts to swell, then of course she will need something x
