Spencer - Guide Dog In Training 🐾

Spencer has just had a lovely run and swim in our favourite reservoir. I’m so proud of this boy. His recall was 110% from absolutely everything - big dogs, small dogs, growly dogs, very playful dogs, a child with an ice cream.

Two sets of people asked for advice on recall. One lady had two lovely little dogs - I forgot to ask what breed. Their recall was zero. She asked advice and said ‘they are fine at home’ - so I gave her lots of tips and she really listened. Another lady had a reactive dog - Spencer came straight back and I popped him on the lead. She also asked advice and I explained about how and what he was communicating (he wasn’t aggressive just letting his feelings be known). She said ‘I need you to walk with me every day’. Me and Spencer both came home glowing!

Here he is ready for home - soggy doggy. The ‘look’ means “what are you doing taking a photo, it’s time for home!”

Very very impressed on Spencer's recall. I dread to think what Carbon's is like with him being 100% on lead for the last two months.

It’s that time again, we are saying goodbye to Spencer today. His bag is packed and he’s going on to start his formal training at Big School in Leeds.

We loved every minute with you, Spencer, you are a real character and such a happy, clever boy.

Go well, work hard and play lots, handsome boy.

Have a great time at Big School with all your new friends, then change someone’s life completely. We will always love you and can’t wait to hear how you are getting on xx
