I've just caught up with the Reunion on iPlayer. So, so wonderful. So emotional. Mags, you & Terry were amazing, and Spencer - well he's always fabulous.
He was at Windsor last night at the King’s Concert!

I think Terry will take a while to come back to Earth after all the excitemen!

I’ve invited them here after our build is done and they’ve accepted!

I still can't watch it, Mags, I'm in tears just reading this thread and seeing the photos - I'm afraid if I watched the video I'd be crying for three days.

But I wanted to say again how much admiration I have for you for everything you do - not only the wonderful work you did with Spencer and all your other lucky pups but also the grace and courage you had to change direction and get Ted when you no longer could be a GD puppy raiser. Most would have sat and cried, looked at photos of their previous dogs, and remembered what used to be. You simply looked at the options available to you, got to work getting a puppy for a therapy dog and continue to move forward with your typical energy and can-do attitude.

I'm so grateful I had that wacky idea to ask some random woman on a dog forum if I could come meet your Labrador to learn about the breed. Which not only you didn't bat an eyelash at, but invited me to stay with you too! I'm very glad that I didn't turn out to be a serial killer and that you turned out to be one of my most cherished friends.

Mags, you rock!

The latest update for those who don't have Facebook 🐾🙂

Good evening my lovelies

How are you all doing?
As always, time has flown by and I just havent had an opportunity to to post. Im so sorry.

I left you last time saying that I had some exciting news - well, I received a telephone call from a lady called Katie from the BBC and she said ……
“Hello Terry, I have some news for you! your Guide Dog Spencer has been nominated for the BBC Radio Leeds Make a Difference Awards 2024, shortlisted in the ANIMAL category.”

I was totally blown away by the news , I habe no idea how he got nominated, it came completely out of the blue. There are four nominations in each of the eight categories. Spencer is one of the four in the animal category.

They are coming out to interview us and do some filming soon.

Super excited - he so deserves this. The award ceremony is on 7th September in leeds. So please keep your fingers crossed for him.

I have also been super busy taking my little side hustle up a gear to raise more funds for Guide Dogs UK. Ive been working on a couple of new ranges and have more in the pipeline. I cant wait to tell you all about it. Ive been testing for months, getting all the necessary paperwork together to makenit all legal etc - and it has driven me nuts! Still more to do but getting closer to being able to tell everyone and hopefully raise some
Money - I think you will love it and support us.

This of course has been inbetween my RNIB work and Samaritans - but, im absolutely loving the experimentation and satisfaction of getting closer to what I want.

Anyway - in other news, Spencer had made new clinical and Admin staff at a hospital We are currently covering clinics for at Low Grange in middlesbrough.

Patients have absolutely adored having him in clinic with me, and the effect he has had on them is amazing. They walk in, nervous, sometimes a little upset andthe second they notice Spencer poking his head out from inder my desk - there are instant smiles. And when they get cuddles - its smiles all round. He has such a positive effect, and on too of what the ECLO’s offer, it like the icing on the cake.

I got a little bit teary the other day ( good tears ) when two patients said what a massive difference we have made, that they feel heard, validated and dare to have that glimmer of hope about their future.

It truly is the best feeling in The World and I feel so priviliged to have been given this job and to be a tiny part of peoples
Lives.

Whilst I am not counting - I clearly am counting! Lol. Its now just 86 days to our next cruise to the Norwegian Fjords. So, very soon in four weeks, the doet is back on. My aon has had a little better with me- saying that whilst there is absolutely no need he knows I will go holiday clothes shopping before we set sail!!! So, Im determined to loose the weight again and not shop ( I said that im determined - not confident haha )

Spencer took me to IKEA , ad he wanted to spend his birthday money from Aunty Carol - and he chose a new toy - a stuffed whale this time! Dean said that there was an uncanny resemblence to me!!! A beached whale haha

As we were walking around, a chap said to his little girl. “Look, there is a dog” the girl said “ DAD!!!!! Ssshhh It isnt a dog. So, he laughed and said, oh, ok, what is it then if it isnt a dog - it looks like a dog to me?” She said - “its a guide dog - silly! And You haven’t to talk to or touch a guide dog because they are working!!!”

I smiled so Much, tirned around, chuckling and said “ yes dad, he is a guide dog!!! “ the little girl giggled and said “ told you! “ hahaha.

I had a new tattoo on my forearm, and getting the underside done shortly to finish off Whilst I cant see it, I have an image in my head of what it looks like, and I love it.

Anyway my lovelies - thats it for now. I will try to update a little more regularly again, as so much happens and I think, oh, I must tell our friends that one - and then of course, i dont. !!!

Hope you are all well and enjoy the photos x x
