When Snowie was a puppy, I had no idea about keeping him away until all his jabs were done. On the second day we got him, I took him straight to the park to meet all the dogs from the doggy daycare that adjoined the park.

I live in a very much vaccinated and vet-frequented area, so all was good without my even being aware of any dangers.

I’m happy to say that I’m sure those early positive encounters with “good” dogs set Snowie up to be “a rock” as a friend commented the other day. Her dog gets anxious and she was grateful that he had Snowie along for the walk the other day to show him that he didn’t need to be scared of other dogs. He’s a lockdown dog. 😔

Now don't tempt me to over-state it... :rofl: but one of the reasons we chose him was that he was a) always asleep; and b) the most relaxed of the bunch, according to his hoomans' observations. He seems pretty gentle and cool, which we hope will suit Kipper's temperament well (once Kipper's got over the shock a bit more).

He definitely has spells of being a roaring donkey, and his zoomies in the evening are utterly hilarious - but in the main, he is a gentle potterer. He likes to sit and watch new things, and then generally trots towards it to investigate. He's particularly fascinated by the pigeons and spadgers that use the bird feeder by the back door, and likes to lie and watch them from the comfort of his bed. Let's revisit this in a few weeks though eh...?

Very sensible.

The reason we picked Stanley was because he came charging out first, barging all the other dogs out of the way and we did the whole “he picked us”.

We sharpish realised that it wasn’t that he picked us. That’s just Stanners..

This is my kind of puppy. I had a foster once who came in at about 6 weeks old and pretty much slept for the next three months. There was nothing wrong with him and he was a happy puppy, but his favourite activity was sitting on your lap and having a snooze. I took him to dozens of adoption fairs and he'd just sleep through them (which I thought was very sensible of him) and no one was interested. So weird as he was pretty much my dream puppy.

I had him until he was six months old and FINALLY found a lovely forever home. By the way, as a tiny pup everyone thought he was a Rottweiler, which is why I got him to foster. But as he grew up it became clear he was a basset hound/Rottie cross. Little stumpy basset legs, oversized basset ears, and the rest was Rottie. He still managed to be very handsome, but he was indeed a "unique" looking dog. 😂
