Strange behaviour

About an hour ago Harley started acting weird. She was walking around very unsteady on her feet, head down, very unsettled, panting a lot and couldnt focus on anything. She looked like she might fall at any time and wasn’t sure what to do with herself. She seemed very distressed. It lasted a few mins then she was back to normal - focus was back, walking fine, no more panting etc. Any ideas? She’s never done this before

Wispa has been a bit like that when she has had EIC, but if Harley hadn’t been running around immediately beforehand it‘s unlikely to be that.

Hi Naya. Maybe google "vestibular disease". It greatly disturbs a dog's balance among other things. Our previous lab Jazzmynn had it happen a couple of times...its a bit frightening, as she presented almost like she'd had a stroke.

Jazzy's first episode lasted about 30 minutes or more, then she was completely 100% once it passed.

I was also wondering something vestibular. Like human vertigo.

If it was vestibular, their eyes usually flick from side to side. It could have been that. Was she very hot? If it happens again I would take her to the vet. It must have been very worrying for you, I am sorry.

My vet also suggested videoing a portion of the event. As morbid as that sounds, especially as it is very unsettling, it gives them better insight into the actual actions of the dog at the time.

No ideas, but it’s probably a good idea to record it if it happens again. Hopefully it won’t!!

Oh goodness, having just been through those seizures with Poppy, hopefully this isn't anything similar. Poor Harley. Definitely try to get it on the phone video if it occurs again. Big hugs to you, it's horrid when there's something up with our dogs, particularly as they cant tell you what's wrong.

Big hugs. It must have been quite frightening.
It sounds weird but like the others say try to capture it on video. Easier said than done x
