Stupid people!

The majority of dogs are desexed in Melbourne (you have to apply for an exemption or breeder permit with your council if you want to keep them entire - this puts up your council registration fees significantly). This means that I very rarely encounter entire dogs or BIS.

Our dog club had a rule that no BIS can attend the club so I don't tend to see them there - although we have a number of people showing and breedesing their dogs so there's a much higher % of entire dogs.

One week, a lady brought her GSD back to dog club too early. It was the first season and an honest mistake (she took her home as soon as she realised her dog was flagging). Nearly every dog at the club knew she was there, males and females, entire and desexed alike. I don't know if the reaction was so great because our dogs don't tend to encounter BIS.

Did she not realise her bitch was in season?! Flagging tends to happen well after the really obvious signs - bleeding, swollen vulva and nipples. They are all different, though, and I’m sure those signs aren’t as noticeable in some bitches. Luna’s first season, it looked like someone had slaughtered a large animal in our house 🤦‍♀️

Saw a huge German Shepherd walking through the capital of Andorra the other day wearing pants. I couldn’t help but laugh.
There was a time when all the dogs you saw in the city were tiny, but now it seems loads of people have very large dogs.

But a GSD in pants. Pfffft 😂

My aunty had a lakeland terrier that she used to put pants on with a sanitary towel when she was in heat

I always thought she was a bit nuts! :shake:%)
