So tomorrow Mas goes back to the breeders for 2 weeks so we can go on Holiday. As assumed the house is chaos, suitcases everywhere etc.
Recall is the one thing we have (at the moment) solid, we have a everyday recall and an emergency one... we also have a whistle one. The emergency and whistle are used only when there is a decent reward and for practise. I’ve never used them in an actual setting (so the bank is hopefully full!)
I come downstairs after packing cases and no puppy. I call OH... he is in the kitchen.. no puppy.
Then check upstairs.. still no puppy. No answer to me calling him...
By this point I’m practically hyperventilating - this is the same dog that happily jumps out of a window given a chance. I check the back garden and realise there are claw marks (UP) the 5ft wooden gate.
I run outside and whistle and Maslow comes BOMBING down the road having been in the bloody forest. He’s covered in twigs and mud (it’s pouring down with rain here)
I have never ever felt so pissed having to reward the recall. I gave him him a slice of cheese (HUGE reward for him) and a massive fuss whilst in a cheerful voice calling him every name under the sun.
There is no way he would have heard me calling him from the distance he had gone.
So... my 5 month old puppy can now scale walls to get out when it suits him. He is sound asleep now (shocking)
So now, no windows open and no free access to the back garden it appears

Dog is literally going to be the death of me.
