@snowbunny had the great idea to start a nail care challenge here and I'd like to boost the motivation for continuing it into July with a prize draw! I'm also extending it to tooth/mouth care for those who have their nails done to a 'T' but still would like to join in. What could you win? Something silly, possible completely useless and AUTHENTICALLY BAVARIAN. Yes, sent to you directly from the Land of Pretzels and most likely with some Carbón fur thrown in.
How does it work?
For nails it's positive conditioning around feet/nails and/or one nail a day (not more). For teeth it's positive conditioning and/or a short brush session once a day. You don't need to do both (but of course you can) and the whole month could just be making progress conditioning. Keep it positive and keep it short.
We have several R+ trainers on the forum who can help with advice if needed. The rest of us can cheer each other on.
My bugaboo is nails, so I'll continue to work on that. Here's @snowbunny 's nail thread again for the nail people.
Any teeth cleaning questions, you can stick here. I'm kind of obsessed with teeth cleaning and scale as well as brush them. If you haven't tried it yet, tooth brushing is super easy: what dog doesn't love having yummy stuff smeared in their mouth? Scaling is a little tricker but works a charm.
OK, eins, zwei, drei...GO!
How does it work?
- Give a shout out here that you'd like in on the challenge here, preferably by 1 July. Add a reason why as well if you want. For example, it's important for me to get Carbon's nails short for some of the SD work he needs to learn like escalators, also I worry how long nails may be affecting his gait/joints.
- Gather your supplies: nail trimmers or Dremel and/or tooth paste and brush (or your finger).
- Get lots and lots of yummy sausages ready.
- Then just jump in and start.
- On the honour system, keep track of what you did each day. At the end of the month, let me know if you checked off each day in July and I'll enter you in the prize drawing.
- Easy peasy.
