The Big Move Tomorrow - Scotland Here We Come!!!

I had a drive round some of the coast when I was there, everywhere seems a bit awkward to get to as there’s really only one way out of Reedham, unless you go across on the tiny chain ferry over the Yare . I’m sure I’ll get the hang of it eventually.
Yarmouth seems the nearest place for big supermarkets, B&Q etc. But the train from Reedham goes directly to Norwich (when the lines not flooded of course ).

My children want me to move and go into something smaller, I don't want to move as long as I am fit to stay here and your tale of the stresses of moving has certainly put me off moving 100%!

I’m sure you are perfectly able to judge when is the right time for you to move, I find it really annoying when my daughter tries to treat me as if I need organising . Last time she tried it I gave her short thrift and she hasn’t done it again .
I’m sure not all moves are as awful as mine but it’s certainly a stressful time.

@Charlie, thinking of you today on the road, driving to Scotland, fortunately it is good weather for you.

Quite right Jelinga! Some people seem to have expected me to move, but it's my home, with lots of happy memories and I'm sure I read somewhere once that it's best not to make any major life changing decisions for at least two years after a bereavement.

All the very best @Charlie and family for your new life in Scotland - it must be exciting to be finally going permanentl. The same to you in Norfolk @SteffiS. I am sorry you are having such a traumatic time. I have moved many times and there have always been massive complications so you have my sympathies. We go to Norfolk lots so maybe we could meet up?

Ooh! Maybe GGJ and me too, next time we are in Norfolk/ Suffolk?

Thank you everyone for your kind wishes. The drive was about 9 hours with stops for wees, food and leg stretching. Hattie & Charlie never make a sound, just stretch out and snooze!! They are excellent travellers We didn't encounter any traffic so going mid week was the right thing to do. Unpacked most of the boxes, book shelves up and full, feels more like home. A few jobs to do but nothing too much so really just enjoying the beautiful countryside and much swimming in the Loch (Charlie not me!! ). Catching up with the lovely friends I have been very lucky to make and did a Glass workshop just down the Glen.

Must admit to feeling a little wobbly having left Hampshire as we have been there for 26 years. Miss my friends, just the popping in for a cuppa and chat. Miss my sister a lot, she is struggling too which is tough to deal with as we are extremely close . Three out of four children and a girlfriend coming for Christmas so lots to do and prepare for that Back in Hampshire in January for a couple of weeks to sort some things out in our unsold house so time to do more catching up. xx

I am glad the journey went well and that you are starting to settle in. I can imagine it’s a bit daunting after living in your old house for so long. It does take time to settle somewhere new. I’m glad you’ve managed to make friends and get involved with activities locally. It’s fab that Charlie and Hattie have somewhere they can swim and play

I felt sad that you and your sister are parted after being so close, she will be able to look forward to coming to stay with you. Your new abode does seem to be a place where the people are friendly, you have beautiful scenery and an interesting course to help you settle in, bit I agree, a little daunting to begin with and you have the affection of Charlie and Hattie to keep you going and no doubt OH

@Jelinga You're right when my sister comes up for her holidays we will have quality time not a snatched day here and there. I will see her in January and we chat or message most days. Lots of snuggling up in the warm! xx
