We have just got back from the vet, having taken Bramble in this morning. Her symptoms came on quite suddenly, in pain, shaking her head, and hiding in a corner. Obviously very uncomfortable. I had a look in her ears, and couldn't see a thing.
Anyhow, we took her straight to the vets. It took one look with an otoscope ( special torch for ears) to spot a foreign body, looks like a foxtail, embedded deep in her ear canal, right by the eardrum. It was difficult to see how much damage has been done, or if we are very lucky none at all.
Now I thought we had been very careful, in checking their coats, eyes, ears and mouth when we have been near long, dry grass, but obviously not careful enough.
Bramble is in surgery now, and fingers crossed we get some good news and she can come home.
