Hola mis amigos! Today we again went very early to the NO DOGS beach for a swim. Que lastima, there was a police car with two guardia civil (national police) sitting in the car where they could overlook the beach. I thought we were sunk for sure, but ML walked right up to the car and said, "Hola!". She can be very daring, mis amigos. Then she had a long conversation with them in her bad Spanish, so we now have ALL the information about NO DOGS and what it means on the beach.
First of all, the police said that I am not the type of dog that made this bad law. ML was holding a bag that I had just filled with my morning offering, and the police said I was the good type of dog that has a poo straight into the bag, not like those naughty dogs that just poo on the beach and leave it there. Bueno, it is not actually the dogs that are naughty, it is their humans who do not magically make the poo go into the bag.
Secondly, the police said that they are the national police and they do not care about NO DOGS on the beach. It is the local police who give the multas, the fines. They said they could see what a good dog I am so they do not care if I go on the beach for a swim. However if we have mala suerte, bad luck, we might get a multa from the local police.
Thirdly, the police said that the rules for NO DOGS do not start until 15 June, even though the NO DOGS signs go up much earlier. This would have been nice to know at the first part of our stay here in Spain. Que lastima. But ML and I agree that we are never ever ever coming to Spain again in June anyway, unless it is northern Spain, which has far nicer weather this time of year. And they have sheep, which make sheep poo, and you all know how I feel about that. There has been a shocking lack of sheep poo in my diet for the past month.
Vale, that is all my news for this morning. ML has a big day of work and more packing. I am not happy that she is packing, as I must keep a very close eye on her at all times lest she forget her handsome Señor and try to drive off without me. She can be very forgetful. Entonces until we actually leave, I must sit as close as possible to her, preferably on her head.
