It could be and it IS! If we get there. What an adventure we are having! Emily (aka ML) here because, frankly, Carbón doesn't have a care in the world or know anything about this.
First our Airbnb did us a dirty and had a mix up so we had to move out a day early. And I found out the night before while all my stuff was in there for the grand packing effort. Ugh. So I stayed up all night packing and off we went to Ibis Budget for one night because the hotel in the Old Town I'd reserved for tonight was fully booked yesterday.
Venice was also rather exciting because I'd booked an apartment starting on Friday but my host luckily warned me of a rail strike on Friday. Oops! Neither of us were sure how that would affect my arrival from Germany, so I thought, "Better safe than sorry" and bought tickets to go down Thursday (tomorrow) with one night in a cheap and cheerful hotel near the station.
But oops again, because today I got an email saying my train to Italy was CANCELLED. Full on rail strike in Germany tomorrow - and unlike the Italians, the Germans don't schedule strikes in advance. Wee heeeee! I couldn't make head or tails of the online 'solution' to this problem, so grabbed Carbón and ran down to the train station. As it turns out, we can take 100% Austrian trains as they are still running tomorrow, but the trains are likely to be full to busting and as I'm holding a German ticket, I can't make seat reservations, nor did they know if the first class that I booked (and paid for

) will even be available. It could be 11 hours of sitting on the floor outside the WC with the door hitting me in the shins every time someone uses the loo. That's a specific scenario because I've lived it.
Also three train changes instead of one and one of the changes is only 6 minutes long.
Yes, we'll probably get stranded in Austria for the night.
Carbón better practice looking scary to protect me while we're sleeping rough in the station.
I cannot believe that I am leaving my beautiful little TARDIS to chance this whack-a-mole of a trip.
I must really love Venice (hint: I do).
