The man on the phone

Silly smuppet of a man. He would have a treble heart attack if he knew what these girls get up to.
They enjoy life to the fullest, get a dressing gown to dry, multiple beds, sofas, chairs, plenty of various foods, toys galore, advent calenders, Xmas stocking, presents for Xmas and birthday and the list just go's go's and go's.....it would be 'anyone got a defib?'

I feel so sorry for him he doesn't get the simple pleasure of being with a dog . When Iver comes back when I call him or Rory smiles at me on his walk are treasures to me. He gets none of that. Poor man he wants his way at the cost of the real pleasure of dogs.
yes, agree totally. I watched Coco & OH at training last night. Coco was sat close into OH, looking up at him, completely attentive, completely chuffed with what he had done, and definitely smiling. And that made me smile.

Quite honestly , I took a lot of his statements with a very liberal pinch of salt , for example he told me that he owns two stud dogs who can be taken for walks with his on heat bitches but will ignore them unless give the command to mount . Stuff of dreams or nightmares I thought .
I will never ever have a perfect dog , I dont believe that they exist and if they do , their lives must be a complete misery xx

You know, hearing that, I'm hoping he's not nearly as draconian with his dogs as he makes out. It sounds like he was trying very hard (and failing very hard) to impress you. Still a bumhut (I'm trademarking that) but just maybe his dogs aren't as miserable as we're imagining. OR I'm just trying to make myself feel better.

Maybe he was, a bit like the (very) elderly man I encountered a little while ago who unnerved Wispa. She clearly wasn’t happy as he walked towards us and barked at him when he paused to speak (Tuppence was just doing her own thing as usual). He insisted on trying to talk to her and when I apologised for her barking and asked him to move on as he was blocking the path he said it must be a ‘testosterone thing’ and ‘he’ (Wispa!) obviously saw him as competition!

Literally toxic masculinity! Seriously though, toxic maculinity and authoritarian dog training (and parenting) really do go together.

Yes, I'm sure you are right.

We are witnessing this right now with our neighbour.

They've got a GSD puppy, about 6 months now I think. Such an adorable ball of fluff when he arrived, but the man of the house is so harsh with him --- it's "do as I say, don't be a baby" regime.

I wouldn't mind but I thought he knew about dog training to hear him talk, and I was nearly drawn in but how wrong I would have been. Turns out he spent time with an uncle who was a police dog trainer 40 years ago, I thought he'd seen the error of those domineering ways but evidently not

It turns out they've never had a puppy before either, I feel for this little fellow.

Isn't it frustrating @Selina27 ? I've been in this position with a neighbour, fortunately not next door but down the lane so I didn't have to see it all the time. Happily - though it doesn't feel right to use that word - the pup was re-homed. Their reason was that it was uncontrollable, aggressive, a dreadful dog apparently |( This awful creature was a cockerpoo puppy by the way.
