The Nullarbor

So we changed plans a little, pushed on and did the trip in 3 days instead of 4. So we're here!

I can't believe how huge this country is. We drove for days with no phone or internet, through uninhabited country.

The road trains are huge - around 52m long. They are scary to drive past and scary to overtake. Then there are the huge oversized ones that take up the entire road. They travel with police cars that instruct you to pull off the road and stop while they pass.

We saw lots of wildlife including roos, Wombats, emus, Eagles etc. Plenty of road kill too - we were careful to only drive in daylight hours.

Ella did very well. She didn't love the car and didn't love wearing the muzzle out of the car but she managed OK. She's tired now but seems to be settling in well so far. We'll go for a nice walk to explore in the morning, once we've all had a good night sleep.

I'll share some photos..

:clap::clap: Well done @Emily, OH and Ella !

Does this mean you are in your new house yet?

I well remember the vastness of the Nullabor, it's 45 years since I crossed it on a Greyhound Bus ! Of course before mobile phones and the internet. I did have the T-shirt once Honestly) :giggl:

I recall there was a lady with a baby who travelled from Perth to Adelaide, of course the baby got fretful and cried a lot. The other passengers, including the men, were so kind and we all took turns to jiggle him and look after him when we stopped so the mother could get some respite.

Sleep tight Emily, Mr Emily and Ella! Goodness you’ve earned it. What phenomenal photos - it looks epic and intimidating and strange and fascinating. You did such a great job with Ella and the car, I can’t imagine there would’ve been a better way. Brava, and rest well, ready for exploring your new habitat! :dug:
