:cwl:What a peaceful, restorative stay that must have been...
I'm embarrassed to admit that I heard Kate screaming and thought, "Oh, she must be playing with the dogs," and went right on getting ready to start the day upstairs. It's a good thing it was a dead rat and not a mass murderer come to chop her to bits, because I was useless. On the other hand, I'm REALLY glad that I missed the drama. Kate said there was blood and body bits everywhere.

Alex displayed what he was bred for at xmas. He killed a rat at record speed. It didn't know he was even there! It appeared in my kitchen and was gone! I was amazed! However, this meant I was the appropriate adult and had to get the rat out of the house, on xmas day, feeling a little bit odd.
I have had rats as pets and trained them so it it was a bit controversial to my poor brain, I'm glad it didn't feel anything or know it was coming and that he was being true to his breeding but still...........

I cannot tell you how pleased I am that Ella doesn't roll in or eat dead animals.

We've come across many of animals, of varying levels of decay, and Ella just has a quick sniff before moving on.
This is us, too. We came across a huge dead rat on a walk once, and OH took a photo cos it was so massive. Monty is sat there next to it, tongue out, just looking a bit vacant..... :smiledog:

Harley is exactly the same. She’s seen dead rabbits, birds, hedgehogs, sheep and rats and sniffed, turned her nose up and walked away.

Oh Maisy loves a roll in a dead bird, I have to be on the ball on country walks.

When she was a pup in our back yard at work she stood barking at something, I had to have a poke around in some rubbish to find it but it was a dead rat. She did this several times, telling me where they were. I have to periodically check the yard now, these rats have been poisoned and I don't want her anywhere near them. Luckily she didn't try and eat them.
