This is not meant to be!!

Thanks everyone! I love how gruesome you all are that you clicked on it 😂
Thanks especially to Rachael for the insider knowledge... twenty years, blimey!!! 😳

I had a tetanus shot at the hospital and I’m on ABs. I’m having to go to the primary care centre every day for at least a week, so they will be keeping a good eye on it.

My nails grow like weeds. I was due to cut them after my shower this evening. Hmmm, that may have to wait til tomorrow 😂

Dear God Fiona, what a totally shite thing to happen and extra totally shite timing. It will obviously impact your ability to type too so I'm guessing a huge impact to your work as well?

I hope the painkillers have well and truly kicked in and you can get some sleep.

Mine went through the nail bed too and they told me the nail would for ever after grow wonky, but it didn’t. I no longer have a ‘crescent moon’ at the base of that nail though...half of the moon is gone. Otherwise it’s normal though. As far as the nail goes yours is no worse than mine so I’d expect a pretty similar end result.

No pictures though as my nails are not photogenic like Fiona’s 😂

Oh my word!! When I looked at those photos my feet felt wierd—we have a saying here, “It gave me the grils” (gutteral g, like clearing your throat).

What an awful thing to happen. The pain!!!!! Those back teeth are so sharp and positioned like guillotines, just a small chomp is all that’s needed. So lucky you still have your finger.

I also thought: lovely, shaped nails and pretty slender fingers! Hope you can still type and do the things you need to do. I have a tiny cut on my left forefinger (sharp knife!) and it bloomin’ gets in the way—can’t fold laundry properly, can’t floss my teeth easily! I’d be rocking on the sofa if I had a crushed fingertip!! Best of luck for a quick and easy recovery.

When my husband sliced through his thumb (same sharp knife! We subsequently bought metal mesh gloves for when using this knife!!), he got a condom-like thing from the hospital ER for his thumb. Kept it dry and clean. Did you get anything similar? Although I can’t imagine the pain when rolling that thing onto your finger. He also used a surgical glove when he showered to ensure no water got in. But again, might be too painful for you to put on?
