I'd just soak a bit until it's soft and cut it. Or just cut it savagely like a nutter.

My weird child loves having his nails cut. When he decides a nail is too long, or it gets a bit damaged he comes to us solemnly holding out the offending digit.
"Nai' cut."

And when we agree to do it he rushes to the bathroom to grab the "cwippers." And he looks so satisfied after you cut his nails.

Wish I could say the same for the dog.

I took the stitches out earlier. It bloody hurt! I think I left them in a bit too long wanting to ensure I didn’t do it too early, so I had to pull really hard. All done now though, and looking good... well, as good as can be expected

Ooo, just reading that made my stomach go all wonky. Glad you got it done but sorry it was such a bear! You are a brave toaster!

I confidently cut my son‘s nails when he was one day old. I made one nail bleed! I cried and never cut them again.

Egregious was one of mine. I've since heard it lots more and used it quite a few times since. I didn't know what it meant before then!

How's it feeling?

OMG SO much better! So, so, so SO much better! It was hurting every time I caught one of those "rustic" knots on something. Now there are no more knots, hurrah! I could wear a glove on this morning's walk! It's not cold enough to need gloves (which is why I only wore the one!), but it's super sensitive to temperature at the moment, and it hurts a lot when it's just a couple of degrees colder than its happy place. I could put my hand through my own sleeve without having to hold it out to avoid the knots catching on the material. Aaaaaaaah, this is awesome!

It's still quite swollen so feels odd to the touch, but my knuckle wrinkles are starting to emerge, so that's good news. And the little bit of bending I can do with it no longer pulls on the stitches (duuuuh) so I'm a very happy bunny today!

Great stuff the feeling will come back slowly, nerves are slow to regenerate. At least it's easier to use it now hope it continues to improve.

Definitely bend it frequently, as much as the swelling will allow. Gotta get those joints doing their thing so you get full mobility back.
